IT-Internship E-Commerce (Shopware) in Berlin (Front/Backend)

We are a successful nonfiction book, text book and media (audio/video) publishing house in complementary (alternative) medicine, located in one of the most interesting and beautiful cities in Europe: the German capital Berlin.
As a smaller company we offer you a comprehensive insight in our daily work and routines. You will get to know all relevant areas of a dynamically growing media enterprise, with various options and challenges for self-responsible, creative activities. Our IT-systems are still easy to comprehend, so you will have the possibility to work within them from the scratch. We don't expect you to speak the German language. Our communication with you can be done in English as all our staff speaks English. Your working schedule with us will leave enough flexible time to study the German language if you like to do so and experience German culture and our lovely city.

Aufgaben

Migration of an existing SHOPWARE 5.x Webshop (Ecommerce) to state of the art framework SHOPWARE 6.x

This internship will give you a comprehensive insight into a modern state-of-the-art webshop and its software framework, with opportunities to be creative on all levels, backend and/or frontend. You can participate in the planned migration of our SHOPWARE webshop, develop your own modules and modify existing ones:

• Major project: Migration preparation from Shopware 5.x to 6.x
• Developing own plugins and extensions (modules) and modifying existing ones in adaptation to Shopware 6.x
• Integration and adaptation of additional functionality like streaming processes and other special features
• Freely developing other useful future functionalities (additional features, independent plugins)
• Redesigning Frontend themes (Frontend) is also possible, if you are interested
• Optimization of adaptations on other devices (responsiveness, improvement of scalability)
• Conception of interfaces between internal publishing software and webshop

In this internship you will get to know all IT fields of our company. So you can bring your own capabilities, qualities and interests to fruition, in a wide scope of creatively free and self-responsible work under typical small enterprise conditions.

It is also possible to combine your bachelor or master thesis project with your internship. We will support you with the documentation and project requirements.

>>> DURATION
Depending on your status you can absolve a 3 to 6 months internship with us, according to the given legal preconditions in Germany. We can help you clearing what suits for you. A minimum of 3 months stay is required from our side.

>>> GRATIFICATION
To support your stay with us, a gratification of 500-550 Euro/month in the first 2 months and 600 Euro after is possible, depending on your present qualification and experience in coding

Anforderungen

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

• friendly manners, positive attitude towards life
• you are honest and sincere
• good English language knowledge (German is NOT necessarily required)
• you are able to work on your own, with high care and precision. You engage yourself with a high motiviation and develop own initiatives.
• you are able to understand the special requirements of a publishing house in the field of complementary medicine and spirituality. You like to work in this field.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Education or specialized study in IT and/or E-Commerce (e. g. informatics, economy informatics, media informatics and/or education as a webdesigner or programmer)
• Good knowledge in PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS is required (Beginners level will not be sufficient). 
  Additional knowledge in Javascript and XML is helpful.
• Some experience in E-commerce, preferably Shopware (www.shopware.com) would be of advantage, though it can also be acquired here with us. You can find material (documentation) and a free downloadable package of the software on the Shopware website
• Fluent English is required. German language knowledge is NOT necessary
